Rafting

Rafting is a trip down a mountain river in an inflatable boat with an instructor. In Bukovyna the Cheremosh is chosen for this, and availability depends on the season and water level.

What rafting is

Participants get into a raft — a roomy inflatable boat — and paddle together under the instructor's commands, passing through rapids and calmer stretches of the river. It's a team adventure combining the thrill of fast water with views of the mountain banks.

When rafting is possible

Whether rafting goes ahead depends on the water level and weather: operators only run it when conditions are safe. In spring and after rain the water is usually higher and faster, in summer calmer. Exact dates and conditions are confirmed by the operator.

How to prepare

Bring a change of clothes, shoes you don't mind getting wet, and a towel. Operators usually provide life jackets, helmets and paddles and give a safety briefing — listen carefully and follow the commands on the water.

Age, weight and health restrictions, as well as price and duration, are set by the operator. Let them know about your swimming ability and any children in the group.

How to arrange it

Get in touch through our contact page — we'll help you find an operator and fit the trip into your stay at Stizhok. After rafting, it's worth planning a calmer day, for example at the Nimchych Pass or the Smuharski Waterfalls.
